The Tennessee State Lady Tigers were unable to close out the home portion of their schedule with a win, falling in defeat to Eastern Illinois 72-61 Saturday afternoon at the Gentry Center.
After relinquishing the lead at 15-14 on a three-pointer from Julia Bengston the Lady Tigers spent the majority of the game playing from behind, for they would never see the lead again. They would trail 38-29 at the half and drew as close as two points in the third quarter at 47-45 on a pair of Elise Harden free throws and tantalizingly close at 58-57 and 60-59 on free throws from Tatyana Davis and a Dominique Claytor jumper.
Lariah Washington led a quartet of Eastern Illinois player in double figures with 19 points, 6 rebounds and six assists
For Tennessee State, Gia Adams led all scores with 24 plints , while Tatyana Davis chipped in 15 points of her own.
The Lady Tigers will wrap their regular season with toad games at Tennessee Tech on Thursday and Saturday at Belmont.
